# Quickstart

Set your API key:

```bash
export SONICALPHA_KEY="sk_..."
```

Ask SonicAlpha a research question:

```bash
curl -s https://api.sonicalpha.ai/v1/insights/ask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SONICALPHA_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "query": "Who do investors think captures the value from AV adoption: autonomous fleet operators or platforms like Uber?"
  }'
```

## What happens

SonicAlpha agentically searches the podcast corpus for evidence relevant
to the question and returns a ranked set of `sources`.

Each source is a structured insight containing information such as:

* what was said
* who said it
* the speaker's role
* companies mentioned
* sentiment
* publication time
* source information

To also have SonicAlpha synthesize the evidence into a cited answer, add:

```json
"answer": true
```

To search the underlying corpus directly rather than asking a research
question, use [`POST /v1/insights/search`](/api-reference/insights/search-insights).

API keys are server-side credentials and should not be exposed in browser
or mobile clients.
