# Generate investment ideas

**Goal:** surface opportunities before they're consensus — the
second-order effects and overlooked names investors are just starting
to talk about.

Start with [Ask](/api-reference/insights/ask) — phrase the question
around the effect, not a ticker:

forward-looking claims from investors, recent first:

**Look for:** names that are absent from the standard winner lists, the
same second-order theme raised by speakers who don't know each other,
and claims specific enough to check — a multiple, a capacity number, a
customer.
