# Understand market expectations

**Goal:** know what's already priced in — the assumptions sitting
underneath the consensus on a name.

Start with [Ask](/api-reference/insights/ask):

To work through the evidence yourself, use
[Search](/api-reference/insights/search-insights) — pull the
forward-looking claims and the concrete numbers on one name:

**Look for:** assumptions stated with numbers (multiples, growth rates,
share), assumptions that bulls and bears *share* — those are priced —
and expectations voiced in every conversation versus by one speaker:
the first is consensus, the second is where a variant view starts.
